South Tampa Psychotherapy

South Tampa Counselor & Therapist Audrey Clark, MA, LMHC, NCC

Does this sound like you?

You are looking for change, wanting to improve your confidence, or trying to deal with panic, anxiety, or stress. You want to “just be yourself” but trying to discover who that is. You are looking for purpose, but you don’t know where or how to start.

You are not alone. I am here to help you find answers within.

I know it can be a bit intimidating to reach out to a complete stranger, but you are not alone. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), I provide a warm and compassionate environment so you can feel safe to explore your life experiences and deeply personal issues with confidence. At my South Tampa office I will help you develop insight and understanding into your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions using psychotherapy (or “talk therapy”) as we collaborate to move you more fully towards your goals and dreams. I will help you find your inner power, your voice, and your happiness.

What is Psychotherapy?

The short answer is psychotherapy is “talk therapy.” The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) defines it as “a variety of treatments that aim to help a person identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.”1

Does Psychotherapy Work?

Yes! Research shows that 75% of clients show improvement from psychotherapy. The same research found that one half of psychotherapy clients improve after eight sessions.2 My own experience is that afer just a few sessions you will already feel you are making progress because of the new skills you are learning.

Psychotherapy changes the way you think and alters the way your brain works. Through the use of medical imaging tests, researchers have measured physiological changes in the brain as a result of psychotherapy. The majority of these studies have reported the brain changes resulting from psychotherapy alone were similar to the changes resulting from medication!3

My clients who thrive from counseling are those who apply what they learn in our sessions. I am here to help, and the more effort you put into our sessions, the more effective they will be. I will always approach our therapy sessions as a collaborative effort and create an environment where you feel comfortable to be open and honest.
